This time last year my goal was to do better than 2024. My annual goal of 2K miles was met, I thru hiked the Pinhoti Trail (350+ miles), and ran my first ever ultra, and wasn't just any ultra. The GA Death Race is well known for its elevation and distance. At 74 miles with about 16K feet of elevation gain and a cut off time of 25 hours, it's a tough race. I was stoked to not only finish but finish with a respectable time of 17:58 and place in the top 30. 

For 2026, I will run another 2K miles, I'll be thru hiking the Benton Mckaye Trail, and I am looking to ride the GA Six Gap in Sept, a cycling event thru GA's mountains that covers 104 miles and 12K feet of elevation gain.  I completed this once before way back in 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed it, even though I was well under prepared. 

There is a chance I'll sign up for another ultra, but that special one hasn't jumped out at me just yet. 

Winter Grit starts tomorrow, get some!
