Nice little walk up Pen-y-Ghent to bring in the new year. Whilst up there we climbed Red Pencil Direct thus completing the gritstone section of Classic Rock. I can't say it's a very good rock climb compared to the other entries but it is geographically interesting, has an an interesting position and felt pretty out there as the approach crack was iced up and it was blowing over 25 mph today - a bit on the cold side but at least the ice held the choss together.
