Three years of sick data and I'm seeing the trend!

Winter cluster
Jan 16–22, 2019 
Dec 3–4, 2023 week of
Dec 6 2025 week of 
Jan 4–8, 2026 (new, ongoing)

Spring cluster
Mar 31–Apr 9, 2024 
Mar 24, 2025 week of

I have two repeatable seasons, with a couple outliers that don't repeat

Oct 1, 2018: “running the sick out”
Aug 2017: “sick… pneumonia style points” (summer illness happens)

Now I'm creating risk windows for myself:
Winter Window A: Dec 1–15
Winter Window B: Jan 1–20
Spring Window: Mar 20–Apr 15

I'm now going to create early warning events:
Winter warnings
Nov 22 → “2 weeks until your early-December sick window”
(2 weeks before ~Dec 6)
Dec 21 → “2 weeks until your early-January sick window”
(2 weeks before Jan 4)

Spring warning:
Feb 24 → “2 weeks until your late-March sick window”
(2 weeks before ~Mar 10)

December ends up with two peaks! Brutal!

 Going forward, I have kids, so still can't run away from being sick by flying to the southern hemisphere where there is better air flow and ventilation and outside day to day which I *BELIEVE is the entire reason I'm getting the winter sickness. So I'll need to figure this out somehow, but once my kids are graduated, I'm not going to keep playing this bullshit sick game. My ass is on a flight to Southern Hemisphere summer from November through end of January. Ski a bit in February and early March, then get my ass back to summer by March 15th before I get the bridge to Spring sickness. 

Medicine doesn't cure/stop/prevent the cold, but getting the hell out of dodge (winter/indoors/poor ventilation) sure does! I barely am getting sick in summer months, short spurts, not very repeatable.

This year, I'm increasing the quality of my reporting. I've only been tracking one or two days during the sick period, not every single day of being sick so I want a very accurate 2026 sick report of every single day I'm sick I want a register of it. Tally it up end of the year, compare against prior data, if correlation stays, I'm that much more committed to my departure.

I just compared all my data with the public health datasets with chatgpt and I swear I'm getting hit with every wave, the front, the middle, and tail:

Early December: you get hit at the front edge (ramp up). 

Early January: you get hit during the surge (front-to-middle). 

Late March / early April: you get hit at the end of the flu season, but sometimes during a late RSV upswing. 

Sounds like I'm going to be HEPA on blast, heater on with doors open in winter more often and kids are changing when they get home from school.
