When you lose all your fuel (300g carbs in bottle) somewhere in first 10 miles, your 61 mile RACE quickly turns into a 47 mile training RIDE. LOL. Man, this learning on the job can be rough. Rode back about a half a mile to try to find gel bottle. No dice. Also dropped a chain! Yay me! Guess that’s gravel for you! Other things I learned:
1. Going up a 6% gradient into a 20mph headwind absolutely SUCKS!
2. Washboard SUCKS. 
3. 5 lbs less tire pressure makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. 

On to the next one! ✌🏻
