The Umshiang Double-Decker Living Root Bridge, located in Nongriat village near Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, is a world-renowned bio-engineering marvel. Crafted by the indigenous Khasi tribe, these bridges are "grown" rather than built, using the aerial roots of the rubber tree.
The bridge is estimated to be over 200–250 years old. These structures grow stronger over time and can support the weight of up to 50 people at once.
The bridge is situated deep in a valley, requiring a physically demanding trek to reach. 
The trek to bridge and then to blue lagoon is physically demanding and involves a significant number of steps, steep ascents and descents, and river crossings via suspension bridges. The return journey is particularly strenuous as it's mostly uphill.
