Fun and rugged adventure through Box Canyon and then the beautiful paved climb up Madera Canyon.  They seem like completely different worlds, yet are so close together!  Box Canyon is more like desert / Star Wars pod racing terrain.  Madera Canyon brings you up from the desert to green and lush alpine vegetation.  Once you get above halfway in the Madera Canyon climb you are shaded by trees (which is a rare luxury in this part of the world).  We were fortunate to have very little ATV or pickup truck traffic through Box Canyon and dirt conditions, while rough and tumble in spots, were much better than when we last traveled through there ~3 years ago.  A great last ride with Kathy here in Tucson (she has to work tomorrow).
