Post surrender of Zeven the Scots Guards,  who previously had liberated the Bergen concentration camp, headed forward to liberate the  POW camp Westertimke.
Guardsman GEORGE SCRAGG, service number 1659264 was killed in action on the 26th April 1945 in the forest "Großes Holz" nearby Zeven. When George's tank was attacked from an ambush opposite the moor dam (today an industrial area) on the downhill stretch between the edge of the forest and the bend in the valley with the turnoff to Westertimke, they entrenched themselves in the narrow path that runs parallel to the moor dam (at the end of the orange track). He was buried in a field grave and reburied to the Becklingen War Cemetery 7. A. 14. on 2nd August 1946.
