Immediately upon taking the new bike into the NJ Ave bike lane some dildo in an SUV started to cut into right beside me. It was an unprotected portion, but not at an intersection. I guess they thought they V could use it to turn right ahead. I had a lighted vest and other lights on. WTF?! I yelled, they stopped. Errrr!

I was trying to use a less car-centric route to get to Hains and then the Canal Towpath. 

When I got off the Capitol Crescent Trail there was a good bike lane that quickly disappeared, so I tried a side route with some hills. Except I went down one hill that really was a dead end (Malaysian embassy) and jammed my chain even with this expensive shifting system. In fact it took me probably ten minutes to get it out! Real annoying and harder than most conventional bike stuck chains. 

There are some nice parts to the ride, but very slow with the 50s and so many layers. 

Some good Z2 probably and at least not a total bore, but freezing saddles definitely messes with any real periodization. I guess that’s okay for a base. 

Only about 3 hours of sleep before work. Fortunately we just talked because not many students showed for self-directed and we got to leave early even though I didn’t do the national walk-out at 2 pm.

There was a group of runners at the beginning of the canal in G’town and I wanted to be with them. I wasn’t even that annoyed that they were running in the bike lane right before the canal and taking up the whole thing. There weren’t any cars in the road at that point.
