Afternoon Ride

Had been looking forward to cycle Lund-Stockholm with old friend Martin. Felt it would be a quite easy ride. We headed out 6 am and had OK weather to Höör, then 0 C, headwind and snow/rain mix. Quick stop in Älmhult to thaw feet. After stop the rain had stopped. Still considerable headwind and now below freezing air, but it all felt very nice, although we were not moving so fast. North of Värnamo, as the Sun set, the road turned to ice and we dared not bike faster than 10 km/h. We opted for snow-covered gravel roads in the forest, which were at least safer than the asphalt, and after 20 km of snow and puddles we reached Skillingaryd. Over pizza we disappointedly realized that the roads would not get ridable without studded tires until Sun late am at earliest, and this would mean both of us missing out on Mon duties at home. So we stopped. Happy with fresh legs and determined to ride the distance again after winter. Thanks Martin!
