Hilly warmup Flora Terrace to Star Swamp and back

Afternoon Goal to goal .

89.2kg RHR 49 (a bit high...stress?). 
Arrived about 30min before the start after a long challenging 1hr drive. 
Rush to get organised, but soaking up the beats and the massive crowd of people... like being at a big party...pumping atmosphere... :-)

At the start I couldn't resist having a shot at trying to catch up to leaders pace of Hilton Power and one other bloke... Especially as I was hoping to get close to my Mission Equestria PR (which was a CR  a few years ago? the first time I did this race. Body did not like that burst of speed at all, and I spent a few minutes in a recovery jog on my way to a 5.22 first K. Then settled into a relaxed pace with the aim of staying ahead of the sweeper, and trying to go strong on the flat sections...
It was rather cold so I went the buff for awhile. 

ended up right near the back of the big field... Cool to go on Reddit goes orange this year... which I put a few segments on a few years ago...

Could see the sweeper below so made sure I got going on the top of Jumbuck... Such sensational views in all directions. Such an amazing place...

Going well near the turnaround...Nice to chat with another runner up Merinos... going good, but on brecknock cheviot I forgot to turn right on the wide trail, and took this gnarly steep singletrack to the river level, then realised the mistake and went back to get it right... Legs getting tired in last 40min or so...
no sub 3hrs this time, but an important step in the right direction...  So good to be in this amazing place... Happy... Thanks God.
