24-(1-2)=25: steep, crisp & easy - Portishead, UK

Yes it's parkrun, but it felt like a race. Was 5th from early on to finish, with sight of the four in front of me... no ambition to catch them, but the nature of the course (2mi out, 1.1mi back, pretty straight) means you have good sight of them.































Genuinely didn't think I'd PB anywhere but Little Stoke. Surprised myself with how quickly I shot out and with my first mile. It was then a case of seeing how long I could hold on. Turns out I could hold on for another 2.1. Expected to be overtaken but wasn't. Reyt chuffed wi'that! Likely to pay for it on tomorrow's long run, but getting back to 70-mile weeks is helping with parkrun. Just like parkrun helps with longer distances. It's nice to be a runner who enjoys all distances. And it's nice to enjoy parkrun. Who couldn't?



Nice to get a shout of "C'mon Little Stoke!" when I crossed the 'outers'. And nice to have a chat with one of the top four who saw my top and commented that Chester (which he ran in 2014) was his favourite marathon. Can't argue with that!
