Ate well, and slept short but woke up refreshed. A break in the meetings with friends across the pond came at the right time to fit this workout in. Started the W/U easy and chatted on the go with MC.

Tempo miles: based on last week's botched tempo attempt on Thursday and on the successful holding of race pace for 10 miles in Traverse City on 8/8 (~7:38 min/mile), the pace plan for today's tempo portion was 7:15 min/mile. The splits for these miles were 7:02, 7:01, 7:02 and 6:55 for a total time of 28:00 and an average of 7:00. Quite happy with the effort and result.

Compared to last week's attempt, temperatures were relatively on the cooler side, there was a gentle breeze, no car drove within two feet of me (and about three feet into the shoulder) at full speed, and best part - rising sun with a golden reflection over the waters of Portage Canal. Good outing!
