Ate and slept well last night. Grateful for the timeoff and the opportunity to complete today's work work remotely ahead of time.

I arrived at the main trailhead of American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) system in Cable by 8:45 am. Plan was to ski to the OO Trailhead along the classic trail (I had never before explored this portion in its entirety) and back to the main trailhead along the skate trail - to gain a better appreciation in a non-race atmosphere.

Having done so for the segment between OO Trailhead and Fire Tower (albeit in the opposite direction) during 2022 Pre-Birkie https://www.strava.com/activities/6673389491 a few days ago, I modified my plan: ski to the Fire Tower along the classic trail and return to the main trailhead via the skate trail.

I kept a steady easy effort throughout focused on form and breathing, and used the technique as commanded by the terrain. The skis kicked well (barely left the tracks even when climbing) and the glide was good too. I stopped a few times to consume water and/or take photos.

Mother Nature blessed me with a very pleasant day and the groomers produced gem of a trail - crisp tracks and fresh corduroy for almost all of the 27 km! Barring a few kilometers I shared with Ian, Ken, Doug and John along the classic trail and few others I saw going in the opposite direction, I had the trails all to myself. And I grinned a LOT!! I am feeling fairly well-trained and ready for the #BirkieFever. Good outing.
