Fasted. In theory, this was going to be Chimney Canyon Threepeat, but I'm a big baby.

 Hiked with Kris M. up above the aspen glade, then turned back when the snow was crazy sketchy in places where a fall would have been ugly. Kris did not have microspikes and I only had one and a half intact microspikes (one of mine is broken and doesn't hold at the top).

Kris had an appointment, so once we got back down to La Luz he headed back and and I headed back up. Once I got to the "lunch log", I put on my microspikes and wound up going the entire Chimney Canyon path to the Crest Trail. I normally do *not* do that this time of year because it gets dangerous up past the "secret cutoff", so instead I go in between and head east, bushwhacking.

The snow is different from previous years, so the complete Chimney Canyon route was doable with the broken microspikes I had, but I did not want to do it a third time, because there were some places where a fall could have disabled me and I was clearly the only person in that section of the Sandias.

Once I knew I wasn't going to threepeat I considered hiking over to Ten.3 and having a pint or two of Delirium Tremens, but I decided to get down relatively quickly and just buy some beer to drink after I got home. That way I could eat my recovery food and have a yummy yummy beverage before the 6:05 poker tournament starts.

Oh, I tried to use my manual chainsaw to clear a particular tree, but I don't yet know how to attack something with a diameter that big, so I gave up. I'lll attach photos eventually.

It was great to run into Jason Bousliman. I never recognize him.
