Morning Run

Fasted. Not really a workout, but it certainly improved my running!

Back in October, I developed some tooth discomfort. Eventually I went to the dentist, and I had the first half of a root canal done on Monday, October 24th. I then made an appointment to have the second half done on Tuesday, November 8th. 

After my first appointment (the one on October 24th) my pain and swelling went away and I went on to successfully run the Javelina Jundred 100 mile race on Saturday, October 29th.

On the following Saturday (November 5th), I ran the Deadman Peaks Trail Run 106 mile race. All went well, although I did have some discomfort in the tooth that had the root canal, so I just chewed on my right side and didn't think much of it.

Sunday night, my tooth was hurting while I was trying to sleep, so I took something to ease the pain and let me sleep. Monday, I still had tooth discomfort, but I chose to run anyway, hoping that the discomfort would lessen as I ran, but instead it got worse, _much_ worse.

After running my face started swelling up. By midday, I called my dentist to let him know about the swelling, but there were communication issues and I didn't really reach anyone until the appointment I had previously scheduled.

Mel Brooks said: “Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die.” Well, nobody died from this incident, but I do find it funny that after running a hundred miler a week after running a hundred miler, the thing that took me off my feet was ... a toothache.

Whee!
