‘Festival of Poker’

The London Festival of Poker is the third EPT stop of Season 8, which began last week with the first event in Tallinn, Estonia. EPT London takes place from September 29 to October 6, with a range of tournaments and buy-ins to suit every player.

All eyes will be on the £5,000 + £250 Main Event, which runs from September 30 to October 6 and is expected to be one of the biggest poker tournaments of the year. Other highlights will include the £2,150 European 8 Game Championships, a £5,000 Heads-Up event and the £20,500 High Roller tourney. There is also the £550 PokerStars Women Live event on October 2. Satellites awarding a £1,500 package for this popular tournament are running now on PokerStars.

A host of exciting new tournament formats are also being unleashed at EPT London, including a £550
5-Card Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo (PLO8) tourney, a £330 No Limit Turbo “Win the Button!” event and a £330 No Limit Turbo “Rivers” event, where each player receives their own river card, plus a £120 No Limit Hyper Turbo tourney offering 10,000-chip stacks and 10-minute levels.

Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree can’t wait for the huge festival to get started on home turf. She said: “I’m so excited that the EPT London Festival of Poker is just around the corner. It will mark a year since I joined Team PokerStars Pro and it was one of the best series of poker tournaments I’ve played in.”

EPT London venues

As has been the case for the last two years, all EPT London tournaments will take place at the Hilton London Metropole, while cash games will take place nearby at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, which has been a players’ favourite for over a decade. Players can buy in direct online with PokerStars for all EPT London events, as well as in person at the casino.

Martin Ramskill, General Manager of the Vic Casino, said: “We are all looking forward to another fabulous EPT London in conjunction with the Grosvenor Victoria Casino. As always we welcome all players to the 24/7 cash games in the Vic Poker Room. Courtesy cars will run between venues continuously for players’ convenience.”

Online qualifiers

Players can also qualify at PokerStars and online satellites for the £5,250 Main Event have already started for what promises to be the richest poker tournament the UK has ever known. Last year’s Main Event attracted a total of 848 players, creating a £4,112,800 prize pool and giving Scottish student David Vamplew a £900,000 payday. Thanks to the tournament’s incredible popularity, an extra day is being added to this season’s Main Event schedule.

The Festival will also feature the EPT Country of the Year €10,000 Freeroll. Ireland won this award after gaining the highest percentage of cashes in Season 7, which means that all 38 Irish players who competed in Season 7 Main Events will be invited to take part. The freeroll is taking place during EPT London, as this is the nearest EPT stop to Ireland.
