No Manchester Marathon for me tomorrow

I went out for my final long-ish (16k) run last Sunday in the (2nd-hand) Nike Vaporfly Next% 2's that I'd bought from eBay in February - half a size bigger than last years Next% 1s that caused me a lost toenail - and I ended up shuffling then limping and cutting the run short at 13k - the left foot/heel/ankle was very sore.

I'd done a 28k in them 3 weeks ago and the shoes were fine, if not as comfortable as the Next% 1s. Did a steady 12k in them Easter Monday and again felt fine - but the foot was a little niggly in the days after but nothing concerning. I also had a virus last week that had me on the sofa all day Wednesday. The foot didn't feel great during last Saturday's treadmill 8k in 'normal' shoes but it was tolerable - and then I went out in them last Sunday ...

Physio/Coach Mike says it's generic/non-tissue specific and just very irritated, so nothing major. I've been doing ice/heat on it during the week, ibuprofen etc and it's definitely improved but nowhere near good enough to run 26 miles on it.

So, a bit unlucky and very frustrating. I'll be fine in a week or 2 and back on it!
