Anyone up for a Tour de France themed event? 7th July to 29th July, similar to the Giro but a focus that the event will only be open between the tour dates, the aim is not to complete the course but to compete and go as far as you can between the official tour dates of 7th July to 29th July, it does have the full distance of 3351km to ride for anyone who would like to attempt it though (unlikely I know).

The course takes in the major points of Le Tour, from Biaritz in the South across Pau up to the infamous Mount Ventoux, then into the Alps going up the mighty Alpe d'Huez, then due North through the Apls to Annecy, then a mighty stretch to Roubaix, then taking in some of the north east tour locations before looping back round to Paris hitting the Arc de Triomphe and finally stopping at Tour Eiffel.

The aim is friendly competition and to perhaps add a little extra motivation to your cycling, will you be in the yellow jersey, part of the peloton or be holding the lanterne rouge come the end?

Join as a individual or upto an 8 man team.

*Disclaimer* Strava linked entries only, cycling and walking kms count (even Froome walked up Ventoux when his bike was broken), total in the mapped event must tally with what you have in Strava to keep things fair and above board to all participants.

The event can be found at: https://www.myvirtualmission.com/missions/25376/tour-de-france-tribute-race

I'll open the event the day before and close the day after the tour completes to allow for world time differences, any activities added before the start date or after the end date will be removed.

Event will need 10 or more competitors to make it interesting, any less then this and it's not really worth doing, hopefully we can get the 10.

Important:

For paid member on the MyVirtualMission site you can link your Strava for automatic distance additions but please remove any incorrect data, if you remove an activity in Strava you will also need to remove the same activity in MyVirtualMission.

For free members on the MyVirtualMission site you can enter your distances manually but add a comment with a link to the associated Strava activity, manual entries without links or supporting comment will be filtered out as this is a race based event.

I recommend the former as it's a lot less work and you help support the challenge site but the latter is a good way of trying out the map based challenges.

Good luck and may the wind and weather be with you.
