Q: What is it that can not only be found in Lewisham, but also in Greenwich and Bromley? A: The River Quaggy.

If you want to get a flavour of what this ride is going to be like, I suggest you take a look at this imaginatively-drawn map of the Quaggy: https://runner500.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/img_0764.jpg

This is a a ride where we will be seeking out the Holy Grail of cycling in SE London - the source of the River Quaggy. Rumour has it that it can be found somewhere in deepest Bromley. Discovering this Barry Mason ride is a bit like finding a lost manuscript to a famous composer - it astonishes me that, to the best of my knowledge, hardly anyone has done this ride in the last 8 years since Barry died. Why should be just be doing his Christmas Day and Midsummer Madness rides, when there is also Source of the Quaggy ride? We will discover that, in Bromley, this river meanders in a way that other rivers can only dream of.

We meet for this ride at Cutty Sark Gardens and will start the ride by following the Waterlink Way to Beckenham Place Park, Shaftesbury Park and Elmstead Wood. We will then continue on to find glimpses of the Quaggy at Chislehurst, Jubilee Country Park, Petts Wood and Locksbottom, where the source of the river can be found.

We will then cycle to High Elms and stop for a refreshment break there. We will then return to Cutty Sark Gardens, where the ride finishes.
