East part of Costa del Sol has many nice hills and climbs too, just maybe is a bit less discovered, does not matter, here is one jewel you should try. Longer start along the sea but later real hills.
From Torre del Mar practically to Almunecar, there is none than N-340, coastal road, passing Nerja something like scenic route. In Almunecar at the beginning turn left to take back road A-4050 to go over Jete and Otivar to the top of famous pass Cabra. Any 25 km and later on bit of undulated terrain to reach the crossroad with GR-3302 on altitude any 1300 m.a.s. +. Turn left for Jayena.
Since now ongoing time there are no climbs just few short hills. Firstly long descent to Jayena and still down to Fornes. Keep on the same road going over the village and along the lake to the next one called Arenas del Rey. There are some fountains to get water if needed. Then still on the same GR-3302 go up to crossroad. Turn right direction Alhama de Granada.
Staying on A-4150 you come to nicely located hamlet Los Ventorros, next to small lake where even refreshment is available. keep on for more km to meet crossroad with A-402. It is basically almost in Alhama de Granada. If you wish to spent some time in this historical city, just turn right and enter. If you are keen to keep on the track to shoreline, then turn left, ride up and then down to micro-plateau around city Zafarraya. Unbelievable altiplano where the climate can always be different due to altitude of any 900 m.a.s. At the end there is a hole called Boquete de Zafarraya, enter...
Last section, still on A-402 is long downhill to Vinuela. At the beginning turn left to ride on back road A-7205 parallel to main road. When you enter Velez-Malaga you have 2 choices, to take main road to Torre del Mar or tide through city.
