Depart alongside the Basingstoke Canal and cross this in Crookham Village. Go carefully toward Crondall croosing a major road. Start the long climb toward Well with spectacular views across Hampshire hills before a fast and tricky decent into Bently. Gain speed using tha A31 around Alton before attacking the climb alongside the steam railway ( traditionally known as over the Alps to loco drivers) to Four Marks and enjoying the fast decent into Ropley. Turn right into station road for and encounter with the Mid Hants Railway, Watercress Line maybe planned to meed a steam hauled train or look around the impressive loco facilities.
