The Gran Fondo route is two laps around the island. Starting at the city hall and taking you past the islands hotel zone past the cruise ship piers that have made Cozumel famous as a cruise ship port. Once you make your way to the southern side of the island you will be greeted by heavy head and side winds for 25km. By the end of this 25km section you will be able to save some energy as you make your way back to town with a little help from a nice tail wind. Don't get too relaxed most people feel a surge of power and push even harder during this section. Once in the downtown area you will be greeted by all your fans, family and friends and feel like you in the Tour De France on a major climb. Be careful as the downtown section is very technical with many tight turns. You will make your way to the northern section of the island past the northern hotel zone and the yacht harbor and the local golf course as you make your turn heading back to pass the finish line on your way to the second and final lap which concludes your Gran Fondo race.
