Loop Doi Suthep Pui & Khun Khan National Park, Version 2
Cycling Route
Details
108.96 km
2,607 m
This is an even tougher variation of the Loop Doi Suthep Pui & Khun Khan National Park. It adds to the last steep climb and climbs up to 1300 m by cutting south to meet the northern part of the traditional Doi Suthep loop. It follows Suthep Road (1269) all the way to the end to Samoeng, hits Ban Pok, Mae Pa and comes back along a stretch it shares with the Northern Meander tour. There are 3 major climbs: At 15 km he infamous climb up 1269 from 300 m to 800 m, the second at 25 km from 520 m to 1000 m and the last and steepest at 60 km from 600 m to 1000 m.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The cut through south starts as an unpaved road (as per Google Street View 2011). However, this might have changed in the meantime. It turns into a paved road after less than 1 km, so it should be okay!
On the same segment, there is another stretch of less than 1 km where the road might have been damaged by a land slide. Again, this might have changed by now.
