Launching from the charming small town of Ross, this route explores the beautiful lakes that lie on the north side of Mt. Tamalpais. There is very limited parking at the trailhead at the end of Lagunitas Road so park at Ross Common Park and enjoy the short jaunt through this peaceful neighborhood before you hit the trails. One could easily make this a shorter loop by simply circling Phoenix Lake or you could also extend your run out around Alpine Lake. This route throws in a huge climb up Eldridge Grade right in the beginning and then eases up with some nice rolling terrain as you circle around the picturesque lakes. Make sure to take in the amazing views of Mt. Tamalpais as you coast down Yolanda Trail back to the start. There are no restrooms or water at Ross Common so come prepared.
