I have been after this KOM for quite a while now, and I have ridden this segment close to a hundred times.  When I first got this in my sights, and I saw the time set by Ethan Boyes, I had a brain melt moment, where I just assumed it must have been done in a car. This was the first time I had seen his name, and the first time I ever went rooting around someone's Strava profile in disbelief. And It was quickly apparent, even in that small snapshot, just how much of a monument he was in the local cycling scene. 

So to take this feels bitter sweet, knowing that he isn't around to (easily) defend it. But I also feel pretty lucky to be able to compete with, and be inspired by this incredible cycling community here in the bay.
