Back out for a ride

Well, I think it’s a raccoon. It could be a badger. Who hits a badger? Either way, it is quite bloated and looks like a fury balloon. I felt like a balloon riding a bike. I didn’t eat anything different, but for whatever reason, I was all bloated. Ugh. 

I’m envious of everyone who can ride in the heat of the day. I try, but the heat just gets to me. I’m sure the lack of good sleep and humidity isn’t helping anything, but I just get zapped.

I felt pretty meh out there today. Thankfully I could stay in the shade for most of the ride. I tacked on a few miles early, out on the levee. The theory being I could top off the bottle at the pavilion and wouldn’t be too roasted early in the ride. That part worked. The interval effort at the bridge might have been a little much tho. It took a bit to recover. 

And the wind. Can’t forget about the wind. It seemed to change direction midway through the ride. Not sure how I had a headwind going east when the wind was out of the west. Bah. 
 
Overall, the ride was ok, but nothing really clicked very well. Never got the spinning up to speed or smoothness. Everything felt weak and I was pretty slow. I also lost motivation about half way through. But, I stuck it out and took the longer way home to get two hours in. Better ride next time. 

Critter report… the birds were out. Noisy starlings, black birds on the levee, birdies flying around under the bridge and hawk flying towards me, just off the road along Pond. It was pretty cool watching the hawk fly into the trees. 

Sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been riding, but missed a lot of golden write ups. So many fun rides and interesting things. My brain needs to do write ups, so hopefully this will motivate me to keep writing.
