As the event was canceled due to  the storm, I turned south again and rode back with a great tailwind. The scenery was amazing, and I arrived at Richmond just when controller Peter Davies was giving his closing speech to volunteers. He was in tears, and so was I. 
This turned into one of my best days of cycling in years. I got completely into the zone and really enjoyed myself.
