Orrest Sun Up Race

A one mile uphill only race

I was not ready for that start. I was up front and it felt like the entire pack overtook me. For whatever reason I just don’t have that power on the flat.

As soon as it turned uphill I no longer struggled for power and I was overtaking quickly, until it emptied out. I could see one person ahead of me, and gradually got closer each turn, finally making the slowest overtake before the final turn. 

This put me in fourth place. I thought they might get me back in a finish sprint because I was wheezing the whole way and they seemed under control, but it never happened.

Going that hard felt wrong, in any other race I’d blow up. In a race this short I’m not sure I can go too hard.
