Gravel Ride Nine: It's Christmas Day, and I'm Feelin' Fine

Christmas Eve commuter

Okay, the eight miles were just fine, but they were never part of the plan when I woke up this morning vowing to take a day off. Instead, I watched a miserable Steelers team lose to lowly Cleveland, setting up an inevitable end-of-season collapse, and all at the hands of No. 8, Aaron Rodgers. Politics aside (I think he's wrong with his anti-vax stance), the guy's just too old and washed up for the game, and he made a lot of rookie mistakes today, mostly missing short. Which is funny because missing long has been a theme I've been preaching a lot lately, especially to my kid. And it's not just in sports where the shots that never even reach the goal will never go in, it's in personal relationships, too: aim big when you're trying to connect with someone. Otherwise, are you even trying to connect?

Anyhow, I had a lot of anxiety (and two Irish coffees) to work off, so I enjoyed a road ride on my gravel bike around my neighborhood, keeping a nice easy pace and just trying to enjoy the fresh air. It's rare for me to ride just for the sake of it, but it came easy today for sure.
