My work ethic has been my greatest strength, but it has also been my Achilles heel and greatest weakness at times.  My answer to poor performance has always been “work harder.”   After many all nighter study sessions and 100 hour work weeks, I finally understood that it’s not always “work harder” but “work smarter.”  Regardless, I continue to make the same mistake.  In the last several months, I week I hit all time PRs in nearly every power interval, but the progress began to plateau, so I pushed harder and started to cut weight.  In the last 2 weeks I’ve massively exceeded recommended time at threshold or higher.  My weight is down 5 lb (3%) and my power was down at least 10% across the board.  Today’s performance was very bad and a clear sign it’s time to smarten up again and back off. Finished 18th.  Predicted to finish 12th.  175 g carb.  1 L fluid.  Burned about 180 g carb.
