The HAMMER is a fondo that remembers Ed Lund and his life. It has one timed segment for competition. It’s a 16mi steep climb that peaks out at 9,200ft. 

Levi Leipheimer brought 2 mountain goats with him and those 3 basically teleported to the top. My power meter was melting trying to stay on their wheels. 

I paced the segment PERFECTLY with my goal of raw averaging 300w for close to 90 mins (at elevation) including the flat rolling section. I got some help on the flat section and came into the last 2,500ft feeling super fresh. 

I honestly couldn’t have ridden any better and was stoked with my power at the end especially at elevation. But 4th overall/1st in age group was the best we could do. 

The group kinda blew apart on the descent back to shaver, the weather was ridiculous, so I went out for some extra credit. Repeated the power of 310 for almost 40 min (5,000-7,500ft) which was awesome to see after 5 hours in the legs. 

Feeling really confident in the motor going into 24hr worlds in 2 weeks. 🤞 We can put in a ride of a lifetime and bring home the win.
