This afternoon, I drove down to Seaspray and checked out Merriman Creek, The Island, Seaspray Beach and Surf Lifesaving Club. It was a very windy day with overcast/partly sunny conditions and a top of 20 degrees. 

I've only briefly visited Seaspray about 3 years ago when I was still living in Sale but never really got the opportunity to explore this small coastal town. There are many facilities available down the end of Foreshore Road including a BBQ area, picnic tables, public toilets, a boat ramp and fishing platform. 

An area called "The Island" can be accessed on foot via Trood Street. It's a soft gravel track behind some residential properties and the nearby foreshore. This spot gives you plenty of access to Merriman Creek which flows into Bass Strait via a channel. It's more like a wetlands area with tall reeds and Rosy ice plants. 

From here, I wandered along some of the back walking tracks alongside the creek. I also did a short walk along Seaspray Beach up to the Surf Lifesaving Club. It's reasonably hard compacted sand underfoot. There's a wooden ramp and balcony at the SLC which gives you awesome views across the beach and foreshore areas. 

Overall, despite the long drive to get down here, the mixture of coastal, beach, creek and wetlands makes it a very picturesque town to visit.
