This afternoon, I returned to Jack Smith Lake Wildlife Reserve and explored parts of Stringy Bark Lane plus Jack Smith Lake and Mcloughlins Beach. It was a lovely partly cloudy day with light to moderate winds and a top of 24 degrees. 

I was pleasantly surprised that the unsealed roads to access the Southern end of the Wildlife Reserve was mostly smooth until halfway done Stringy Bark Lane. Unlike the Northern end via Giffard Road, there's no information board or informal parking spaces here.

Stringy Bark Lane is a very lengthy track, boarded by farmland properties, grassland and swamp vegetation. It's also in very poor condition with many deeply rutted sections, mudholes and potholes. So it's definitely not 2WD friendly. 

As I got nearer to Jack Smith Lake, I noticed an off-road track through the grass to my left and decided to follow it. Sadly, it didn't really lead anywhere though a did encounter a few Eastern Grey Kangaroos bouncing around. 

The environment along Stringy Bark Lane begins to change as it gets closer to the junction with Byrnes Road and sections of Jack Smith Lake. There's a large abundance of Black Wattle, Scented Paperbark and Spiny Rush along the track.

Eventually the track breaks up when it reaches the sand dunes and Mcloughlins Beach on the other side. It's another incredibly beautiful and secluded beach with nobody else around. 

Overall, while this was a very long walk, there was so much beauty to appreciate here and I didn't really notice the time that much.
