This afternoon, I returned to The Lakes National Park near Loch Sport and checked out the Netting Boundary Picnic Area plus the Tree Fern Track and part of Lake Victoria Track. It was a lovely warm day with a top of 23 degrees. 

Considering the recent bushfires we've had over the past few days, I wanted to hike in an area that was unaffected and also away from any smoke haze. Luckily, Loch Sport and The Lakes National Park ticked both of those boxes. 

I drove down along the Lake Reeve Track until I reached the Netting Boundary Picnic Area. There aren't many facilities here besides a single picnic table and a drop-loo toilet. Directly opposite, there is an opening in the vegetation where you can see across Lake Reeve with Rotamah Island in the distance. 

The Tree Fern Track (also known as No. 3 Fire Access Track) is a wide open bushland track consisting of Old Man Banksias, Tea-trees and Common Bracken. The name of the track is quite misleading as there was no tree ferns anywhere is this area. 

Both ends of Tree Fern Track join up with Lake Victoria Track to form a loop with Murphy Swamp in the middle. I looked for an entry point to the swamp but it was too densely vegetated on all sides. Lake Victoria Track has a few mild to moderate hills and is also quite sandy underfoot. 

Overall, this wasn't a bad hike. It was slightly disappointing that the Tree Fern Track wasn't like the cool rainforest environment I had imagined in my head but it was still a pleasant walk just the same.
