This afternoon, I drove up past Gelantipy and Wulgulmerang and explored the Little River Falls and Little River Gorge plus hiked along part of McKillops Road at Snowy River National Park. It was a beautiful sunny day with light to moderate winds and a top temperature of 23 degrees.

This has been on my MUST DO list for a while now but as always, finding the right time to do it is always the hardest part. It is a fairly long drive, taking nearly an hour from Buchan but it's very scenic and not overly difficult. 

Stopping just before the bridge crossing over Little River, there are two Day Visitor Areas near Little River Falls. One features a single drop loo toilet and several picnic tables. The other one has an information board, fire pit and picnic tables. The walking track leading to the Falls starts just before the bridge. 

The walking track is fairly straightforward to follow, though it does narrow and becomes steep as it gets nearer to the Falls. There's plenty of spots to view Little River flowing over the rocks off the track. Eventually, you'll reach a viewing platform with clear views of the Falls and swimming hole below. It was flowing very well today and looked spectacular. 

I decided to hike the 3km distance between the Falls and the Gorge along McKillops Road. It is slightly uphill and windy at times but there's also some flat sections too. 

The Little River Gorge Track leads you to an informal carpark with a couple of picnic tables and fireplaces. The 300m walk to the Gorge Lookout is downhill and fairly steep. The views of the Gorge are absolutely jaw dropping. For someone who isn't the biggest fan of heights, I was still able to appreciate it. It was quite gusty at times but the timber lookout is very wide and sturdy. 

Overall, I absolutely loved this hike. It was fairly challenging at times but there was so much incredible scenery to take in and the long drive out here was worth the effort.
